Proverb of the Day-12/1/2024

The Foundation of True Wisdom

“Good morning, friends! Today’s wisdom comes from Proverbs 1:7, which teaches us:

‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.’

In Hebrew, the word ‘fear’ here is yir’ah (יִרְאָה), which means a healthy sense of awe and reverence for God—not fear as in terror, but a deep respect that recognizes God’s authority in our lives. This kind of fear shapes how we live, think, and act.

Without this reverent awe of the Lord, even the most learned person lacks true wisdom. Knowledge becomes complete only when it is built upon the recognition of God as the source of all understanding.

Here’s what this looks like in practical terms:

  • Focus on God: Acknowledge His presence in every situation.
  • Respect His Ways: Align your actions with His Word.
  • Think Before You Act: Approach life with reverence and intentionality.
  • Build on His Knowledge: Recognize that all human wisdom is incomplete without God.

Let’s start this month by putting God first in our pursuit of wisdom. How can you apply this principle today? Share your thoughts and let’s encourage one another!”
