“He holds success in store for the upright…” (Proverbs 2:7)

Success is a term that can mean many things to many people. Through God’s lens, it takes on a deeper, eternal significance. This verse reminds us that true success isn’t measured by material wealth, status, or possessions. Instead, it involves aligning our lives with God’s will. It means walking in righteousness. We strive for a life that pleases Him.

Some people equate success with riches and achievements, but these are fleeting. Our wealth, homes, and even our physical bodies will one day pass away. Success in God’s eyes is far more enduring. It is the contentment of a life lived in obedience to His Word. It is the peace of knowing we are fulfilling His purpose. It is the joy of looking forward to eternal life with Him.

As mortals, we must acknowledge our frailty and the certainty of our judgment day. It’s not the size of our bank account that matters. What truly counts is the size of our faith. Additionally, it is the strength of our walk with the Lord that matters. When we live righteously, we invite God to take the lead in our journey. We trust Him to provide everything we need along the way.

The Lord has already promised in His Word that He will sustain and guide us:
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)

Let us commit ourselves today to pursue the kind of success that truly matters. This includes a life pleasing to God. It also means having a heart content with His provision and a spirit secure in the promise of eternal life.
