π Good Morning! πΏ
Letβs reflect on Proverbs 3:5-6:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Human nature is a mix of beautiful capabilities and challenging inclinations. Creativity, curiosity, empathy, and altruism reflect our God-given potential. However, as Galatians 5:19-21 reminds us, unchecked human desires can lead to the “works of the flesh”βsinful actions like jealousy, anger, pride, and greed, which distance us from God’s Kingdom.
Examples of the “works of the flesh” include:
β Sexual immorality
β Idolatry
β Fits of anger
β Envy
β Dissensions
β Drunkenness
Key insights:
π‘ These actions stem from our natural tendencies and highlight the need for guidance beyond ourselves.
π‘ Human nature includes the capacity for empathy, love, and morality, but also struggles with selfishness and division.
So how do we overcome this tension? By choosing to walk by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16). The Holy Spirit cultivates in us the Fruits of the Spirit, which reflect Godβs character:
β€οΈ Love
π Joy
πΏ Peace
π°οΈ Patience
π Kindness
β¨ Goodness
π€ Faithfulness
π« Gentleness
π€ Self-control
Practical steps to walk by the Spirit:
π Pray daily, asking the Holy Spirit for guidance.
π Meditate on God’s Word, aligning your actions with His promises.
π‘ Choose actions that reflect the Fruits of the Spirit over works of the flesh.
Living the Word today:
β¨ Replace jealousy with kindness.
β¨ Swap anger for gentleness.
β¨ Choose love over pride.
When we trust in the Lord, and allow His Spirit to guide us, our human nature transforms. It reflects His glory in our lives.
