Proverbs 19:21 – Trusting in God’s Purpose

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”Proverbs 19:21

When I was growing up, I dreamed of fame and fortune. I thought I would be a big-time rap star, with all the security and success I could imagine. I came close, nearly signing a record deal, but the cost was my integrity. They wanted me to compromise my values and speak words that God would not approve of. I almost gave in, almost sold out for the fleeting promises of the world.

But God had other plans. His purpose prevailed.
Renouncing that path was not easy. It led me to years of struggle—homelessness, recovery programs, and deep moments of frustration. I questioned God. I doubted His presence. Yet, through it all, He never left me. His purpose was unfolding in ways I couldn’t yet see.

GoodNews Church prayed for me, encouraged me, and reminded me to trust Him. I was told, “God is going to change your situation,” and though I doubted, God worked a miracle. A program that typically takes 2-5 years brought me into a home in just 7 months. The HHOPE Program and Riverside University Health System helped me find stability when I thought it was impossible.

This journey taught me that God’s purpose will always stand while my plans may falter. His plans are greater than anything we can imagine. If you’re struggling today, know this: God’s purpose will prevail in your life too. Trust Him.

Proverbs 19:21 beautifully reminds us that while we may have many plans, it is the Lord’s purpose that ultimately prevails. Trust in His divine guidance today.

Prayer:
Lord, I surrender my plans to You, trusting that Your purpose is always greater than mine. Align my heart with Your will and give me the strength to follow wherever You lead. Thank You for never leaving me and for working miracles in my life. Amen.
