Proverbs 25:11: “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.”
Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh (John 1:14), is the ultimate “word fitly spoken.” His birth was the fulfillment of prophecy, the perfect answer to humanity’s need for a Savior. Like golden apples framed in silver, it was a picture of beauty and value. Jesus’ arrival was divinely timed. It was framed within God’s perfect plan for redemption.
The angels proclaimed His birth to the shepherds. Their words were also “fitly spoken.” They announced the greatest gift of all:
Luke 2:10-11: “Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”
Jesus embodies wisdom, truth, and love, perfectly expressed in God’s “golden” plan of salvation, wrapped in the “silver” of humility as He came to us as a child in a manger.
