Reflection on Proverbs 8: Wisdom Is Greater Than Wealth
Proverbs 8:11 (KJV)
“For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.”
I have experienced seasons of abundance. I held jewels, gold, and money. I’ve also walked through times of loss, where I owned nothing and held on to little. Yet, through it all, God has taken care of me.
Wisdom has never left my side. She teaches me when to go and when to be still. By wisdom, a house is built, and through knowledge and understanding, it is established and filled with beautiful things (Proverbs 24:3-4).
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want (Psalm 23:1). Wisdom has taught me that material things are fleeting, but the invisible things—the things of the Spirit—are eternal and far greater than what the eyes can see.
“All that can be shaken will be shaken, so that the thing that cannot be shaken will remain” (Hebrews 12:27). Earthly treasures—jewels, possessions, and wealth—will fade. But wisdom, understanding, and faith are unshakable, eternal treasures that no one can take away.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of wisdom, which surpasses all earthly treasures. Teach us to build our lives on Your truth. Guide us with wisdom. Help us to value what is eternal over what is temporary. Help us to see the riches of Your Kingdom and walk in humility and faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
