Proverbs Daily: Proverbs 14:1 (KJV)
“Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”
In life, we have the choice to build up or tear down—our homes, our relationships, and even our spiritual foundations. This Proverb paints a vivid picture of how wisdom and folly impact the family. A wise person invests in their household, nurturing it with care and diligence, while foolishness brings chaos, destruction, and heartache.
This truth is echoed in the words of Jesus:
“Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” – Matthew 7:24-27 (ESV)
Wisdom begins with God. A strong home—whether literal or spiritual—must be built on the solid foundation of faith, prayer, and Godly principles. Foolishness leads to destruction, just as a house built on sand crumbles under pressure.
Reflection:
Are you building your life on the unshakable Rock of Christ? Or are you letting foolishness chip away at your foundation? Take time today to evaluate how your actions, words, and priorities impact the “house” you are building.

Prayer:
Lord, grant us the wisdom to build strong homes and relationships rooted in You. Help us to choose words and actions that uplift and strengthen. Keep us from foolishness that tears down, and lead us to be faithful stewards of all You have given us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
