"A Good Man Leaves an Inheritance – Proverbs 13:22 (KJV)"

Proverbs 13:22 & The Power of COGIC, Black Wall Street, and Generational Wealth

“A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.”Proverbs 13:22 (KJV)

My Journey in the COGIC Faith & The Pursuit of Wealth with Purpose

I stand today as a product of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). I carry the spiritual heritage passed down through generations. My roots run deep in this faith. It began at Friendship Christian Fellowship COGIC under Pastor Art Wooten and First Lady Jacqueline Wooten. Later, I attended Testimonial Cathedral COGIC in Los Angeles on Western Ave, where I was baptized. I experienced multiple baptisms. My Southern church upbringing always called for spiritual renewal.

Above all, my ultimate ordination comes from the Lord God Himself. He has called me, Joseph Mekael Page, to walk in His authority. I am called to build wealth for His Kingdom.

I am choosing to embody the COGIC mission through the Black Wall Street movement. I stand as a testimony of what is possible when faith meets action. This year, I will touch $1,000,000. Not by luck, not by chance, but by faith and the principles of God’s Word—for it is written:

“But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV)

The ability to create wealth is a God-given power. It is not reserved for a few. It is granted to those who will honor Him, work diligently, and steward resources wisely.

Bishop C.H. Mason & Black Economic Empowerment

Bishop Charles Harrison Mason (1866–1961) was a visionary leader. He understood that faith was not just about spiritual growth. It was also about economic empowerment. Through his leadership, the COGIC movement encouraged Black Christians to own businesses, build communities, and attain financial self-sufficiency.

Many of Mason’s followers became entrepreneurs and investors in Black Wall Street, Tulsa. It was a thriving center of Black economic power. It also fostered self-sustaining wealth. These pioneers saw business ownership as an extension of faith. They believed that their success was tied to their obedience to God. It was also linked to service to their communities.

This is the same spirit I choose to walk in today—Black Excellence, Economic Power, and Kingdom Prosperity. I invite you to step into this inheritance with me. We must reclaim what was lost and establish wealth that lasts generations.

7 Biblical Steps to Generational Wealth for Black Individuals

Building generational wealth is not just about money—it’s about legacy, wisdom, and stewardship. Here are seven key steps to walk in financial dominion as a believer:

1. Seek God First (Matthew 6:33)

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

  • Before wealth, before success—seek God’s wisdom. Ask Him for guidance in all financial decisions.

2. Gain Financial Wisdom (Proverbs 4:7, Hosea 4:6)

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”

  • Study finances, investments, and wealth-building strategies.
  • Learn from books, mentors, and godly financial teachers.

3. Develop a Wealth-Building Mindset (Romans 12:2)

“Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

  • Your mindset controls your wealth. Shift from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset.
  • Believe that God has called you to prosper.

4. Build Multiple Streams of Income (Ecclesiastes 11:2)

“Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.”

  • Do not rely on one job or income source.
  • Start businesses, investments, and passive income streams.

5. Eliminate Debt & Live Below Your Means (Proverbs 22:7, Romans 13:8)

“The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”

  • Avoid unnecessary debt—build wealth, don’t accumulate liabilities.
  • Be disciplined in your spending and save for future generations.

6. Invest in Land, Businesses & Assets (Proverbs 31:16, 1 Timothy 6:17-19)

“She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.”

  • Ownership is key—buy land, start businesses, invest wisely.
  • Build assets that increase in value over time.

7. Teach the Next Generation (Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

  • Pass down financial knowledge to your children.
  • Teach entrepreneurship, investing, and biblical stewardship.

The Call to Action: Walking in Black Excellence & Kingdom Wealth

This is our time. The COGIC movement is rooted in power, faith, and economic strength. If our ancestors—like those who built Black Wall Street—could establish generational wealth in an era of oppression, then how much more can we do today with access to knowledge, technology, and opportunity?

This year, I will walk in abundance.
This year, I will break financial limitations.
This year, I will operate in divine excellence.
This year, I will touch $1,000,000—and beyond.

And I invite you to do the same.

Final Prayer: A Prayer for Wealth & Kingdom Advancement

“Heavenly Father, we thank You for the wisdom of Proverbs 13:22 and the example of Bishop C.H. Mason. You have given us the power to get wealth—not for selfish gain, but to establish Your covenant and bless generations. Lord, we surrender our finances, businesses, and plans to You. Teach us wisdom, guide our hands, and help us to walk in righteousness and abundance. May we be leaders of wealth, creators of opportunity, and pillars of faith in our communities. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.”
