✨ Verse of the Day — John 8:12
“Then spoke Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the Light of the world. He that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
— 21st Century King James Version
🌟 When Light Finds a Life Like Mine
There’s a certain kind of darkness that doesn’t come from broken streets or bad decisions — it comes from the very place you were born. I stepped into this world wrapped in shadows that weren’t mine to carry. A mother who loved deeply. A father who didn’t love her back. A family line marked by uncertainty, pain, and unanswered questions.
I grew up not knowing which man was my great-grandfather — Mr. Mallard or Joe Page. That may sound small to some, but identity matters. Legacy matters. And when your roots are cloudy, it sets a tone: you enter life already feeling lost.
That was my beginning.
But the Lord…
The Lord had already written a different ending.
🔥 A Journey Through the Deep Night
My path didn’t drift into darkness — I ran into it. Drugs, alcohol, violence, gang life, hopelessness. Places where you can’t even see your own hands, let alone your own future. At my lowest, I didn’t just feel dead inside — I wanted to be.
Anyone who’s tasted that kind of despair knows it’s not weakness; it’s suffocation.
But even then… even there… Christ spoke the same words He spoke in John 8:12:
“Follow Me. You don’t belong in the dark.”
And somehow, the Light reached me where death was knocking.
✨ The Light That Does Not Fail
I didn’t pull myself out.
I didn’t earn deliverance.
I didn’t “fix my life.”
Jesus turned the lights on.
The moment He stepped in, the shadows broke. The confusion lifted. The pain didn’t vanish overnight, but it lost its power. The lies about who I was — unwanted, unworthy, unseen — were replaced with truth:
I am loved.
I am chosen.
I am redeemed.
I am alive because He is the Light of my life.
If it were not for the LORD — truly, where would I be?
🌅 Final Word
John 8:12 isn’t just a comforting verse.
It’s a spiritual map.
It’s a rescue line.
It’s a declaration that even when you’re born in darkness, you don’t have to live there.
Because Christ doesn’t just shine…
He saves. He reveals. He restores. He leads.
And when you follow Him, you don’t just walk out of darkness —
you inherit the Light of life itself.
